Advancing IE's Entrepreneurial Community
Our primary goal with MM Angels is to create an engaged community of alumni, faculty and current students that will enable ever closer collaboration. IE has an amazing alumni community across the globe, our ambition is that MM Angels enhances this, bringing the IE family closer.

Angel investing plays an essential role in the startup ecosystem, often as the first believers in a founding team. In many of the geographies where the IE community is strong, there is a lack of angel investors who invest with a "founder friendly" mindset and have the experience and network to help them succeed.

Our ambition is for MM Angels to form a component of what makes IE the best place to learn and practice entrepreneurship by becoming one of the first options for early-stage founding teams in the IE network for investment and mentorship.

How does it work?
Interesting startups are sourced through the IE network and the best will speak with members of the screening committee. For those that appear to be a good fit, an allocation in the round will be secured and a member of MM Angels will "lead" the round. This can be any experienced investor member of MM Angels, who will share a short investment memo with the community. Typically the deal lead will receive some "carried interest" for their extra work in this matter.

Members can then opt-in to invest in the syndicate and, once fully subscribed, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) is created to invest in the startup. The syndicate's investment is then managed via the SPV until the equity is sold or the startup perishes.

Syndicating investments in this way allows us to broaden participation through smaller minimum investments, without burdening founders with 100s of investors to manage.

I'm new to angel investing, how can I learn?
In addition to learning from the community itself, we will also provide resources and access to training for our members. For those that don't qualify as sophisticated investors in their home jurisdiction, being part of an active angel investing community for 6 months should enable you to qualify.
